Teacher Mary's Pre-school

Teacher Mary’s pre-school in the village of Mele, Vanuatu, hosts more than thirty children in a single 8-foot by 10-foot room. Space is tight, resources are tighter — yet parents still insist their children attend. They know how well her students go on to excel once they move into primary school.

Early education gives these children a foundation that carries them for the rest of their lives — but Mary and her students need more room, more materials, and more support to keep doing it well.
